Schedule F is on track to be enacted by President Donald Trump. It will disintegrate the federal workforce across various agencies within the U.S. government. Federal civil servants have protection — by the terms of their positions under civil service laws — that prohibit their termination. What Trump aims to do is remove 50,000 career civil servants and replace them with political appointees who are qualified to stroll into those positions only because they are loyal to the president and his agenda.

This plan was explained in Project 2025. Loudly. It starts on page 70 of the text. Consider the implications of removing the few safeguards that exist to deter a president hungry for more authority.
Schedule F is the second wave of the targeted and overt instability that DOGE has instituted under Elon Musk. DOGE used “government efficiency” as a catchy buzzword to remove divisions of the government under the guise of legitimacy. Legitimacy earned when American voters installed both Trump, and then Musk, into the White House. Musk, under a “special government employee” designation, hacked departments at a bewildering pace.
Coincidentally, many of the employees sent packing were employed by arms of the government that had active investigations into Musk’s companies, his government contracts, etc. Trump gave Musk the green light to trim. Wherever.
President Donald Trump is now gearing up a second flank on the U.S. government. Coming behind Musk’s work thus far to accelerate his reach in areas of the government that no U.S. president has ever tried to touch.
Why?
Trump wants any barriers in his way, or those that could possibly halt his march, removed. It’s one clear reason that Trump picks and chooses when he’ll respect the judgment of any court. It’s why he flip-flops at the notion that a legal ruling might dare to go against him.
It’s core to why Trump fired Inspectors General once he was back in the Oval Office.
How will Trump push Schedule F?
He’ll remove civil service protections to fire government employees that serve regardless of their political affiliation. It’s politics. Politics of MAGA. If you’re in the club…that’s the only qualification necessary.
It’s not about the law. It’s certainly not about upholding, adhering to, or protecting the Constitution that loses its effectiveness with each new preposterous headline coming out of the White House. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is set to enact Schedule F on Trump’s behalf.
Remember those civil service protections mentioned above?
Schedule F reclassifies the civil service workforce. It shifts them from career personnel inside the federal government to “at-will” employees. Clearing the way for them to be handed a brown box to pack their belongings on the morning that it becomes official law. Civil servants make up the staff of the DOJ, FBI, DHS, etc.
Through executive order Trump can’t do this on his own. He’s testing how far the law will allow him to go. What about this is beneficial to a democracy…under the impression that this country still claims to be one?
Obedience over dutiful execution and interpretation of the law. No matter the president. No matter what party sits behind the big desk at 1600 Pennsylvania avenue. A good way to gauge whether your democracy is vibrant can be measured in how the people in that society accept and value political ideologies that contrast. How will two officials in the DOJ work together even though they have divergent ideas on how the country should be led? This may surprise you but it's been accomplished for decades.
Since the U.S. is structured, politically, to only buoy two parties simultaneously, all the citizens are stuck with two boxes. There’s a capital D next to your name or a big R. That uppercase R will now be the determining factor in who slides into those 50,000 long-term positions inside the federal government.
Trump is going to purge the federal workforce to ensure that only Republicans (who are now the MAGA Party) can be sprinkled into careers where political affiliation was never connected to the job description. Readiness was determined by education, professional work history, a prestigious college degree never hurt, entrance exams, background checks, and several rounds of interviews. The president and his administration will eschew it all for the applicants that show how MAGA they are. This is affirmative action without bringing verifiable accomplishments on a resume to get in the door.
He’s making the corporate nuts, bolts, and gears that power our government crumble under absolute allegiance to him. Not the country. Not the U.S. Constitution. Him.
Democracies do not function this way.
A democracy improves from disparate opinion. Opinion enhances growth and consideration for ideas that may have never been considered in the past. Logic becomes enhanced with context newly introduced into a specific circumstance. Solving the problems of government and its society will then take varied forms with respect for the needs of the entirety of the citizens. Not only the wealthy, powerful, and influential.
Schedule F leaves no room for progressive, independent, or other political voices that need a microphone.
A Republican building block is to restrain government. To shrink it. To remove bureaucratic tentacles from the lives of Americans.
How does hiring political drones and acolytes expressing obedience at the cost of ethics, morals, and professionalism accomplish the smaller government that Republicans still lie about vying to achieve?
Schedule F gives more MAGA devotees control over the lives of fellow Americans.
It removes competency from crucial positions inside the federal ecosystem. Look at the idiots cosplaying as government leadership within the Trump administration. These people shouldn’t manage a burger stand.
Congress can stop this. They can also turn more of their power over to a president molding the office into an entity it has never been. An entity that was the impetus behind the Revolutionary War.
When Americans were presented with the choice of a reasonable alternative, 49.9% of voters selected this administration.
