Recently, I’ve been thinking of Gaza.
I’ll switch my brain to different topics before my focus shifts back to Israel’s real estate ambitions in Gaza and the West Bank. Israel’s not hiding behind political correctness. Their war isn’t about Jewish hostages. It never was. Nor is it about honoring ceasefire agreements that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu severs each time one is reached.

It’s conquest.
Then, a second thought. It’s probably the reason this is an essay over a work of poetry or a barrage of social media posts.
What would everyone say if they could watch white Europeans arrive on the shores of North America and witness their triumph in the near total eradication of Indigenous Tribes and the possession of their land? All while the white European colonialists claimed it was justified? Then masked it under divinity?
How would the infinite news cycle process, report, and distill it?
Specifically, how would people feel about it? The global citizenry?
From there I found myself annoyed. I couldn’t explain why. I was aware of the morsels of objection inside Israel. Against the war…but not for the reasons I thought were obvious. My eyes were telling me something but it wasn’t complete. The protests within the borders of Israel, from actual citizens of the country were anchored around the return of Jewish hostages held by Hamas. A wonderful reason to chant, make signs, and demand their release. Yet, I didn’t know how Israeli citizens — in Israel — felt about the war next door. Then I did a little digging.
A March 2025 poll conducted by Israeli firm Geocartography Knowledge Group states that 82% of Israeli Jewish citizens want to expel Gazans - and 47% of Israeli Jewish citizens support killing all Palestinians in Gaza. Lastly, 56% of Israeli Jewish citizens support expelling Palestinian citizens of Israel.
Whoa.
That isn’t subtle. It’s a clear position on a subject happening in the month of June, in the year 2025. A large percentage of Jewish people support what’s happening to Palestinians. Surprised, I was not. It was unfortunate to absorb the details.
On May 18, 2025, Netanyahu said that Israel, through the actions of the IDF, will “control all parts of the Gaza Strip.” Israel Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich recently said in a press conference concerning the civilian arm of Hamas, “The IDF is finally conducting a campaign against the civilian rule of Hamas and not just focusing on the military infrastructure. We are eliminating ministers, officials, money changers, and elements of the economic and governmental system.” (Note: Hamas has a civilian division that does not engage in war. They don’t fight or involve themselves in armed aggression.)
Is it possible that Israel is not able to see what they’re doing to the Palestinians?
Are they not aware of what their actions evoke?
They’ve demonstrated a specific intent to remove and destroy the people of Palestine/Gaza. Israel is evicting them from their land to keep it for themselves. Indefinitely. To clear it and rebuild it with the goal of their Greater Israel project.
Palestinians won’t be able to return to their homes. Those homes and neighborhoods are now dust. Churches, schools, hospitals, businesses, infrastructure, electrical systems, clean water, food, farmland, and the like have all been evaporated. They’re being expelled.
Erased.
Israel stands strong in their belief that Israel has a “right” to exist. To be their own country. On their terms. They’re recognized by admittance into the United Nations. That call from Israeli leaders, government officials, and citizens baffles me sometimes because Israel…exists. Today. Tomorrow. It’s on the map. They’re firing missiles into Gaza and building more illegal settlements in the West Bank.
With that out of the way, why is Gaza and the West Bank blocked from the same territorial autonomy that Israel enjoys?
Does Gaza have a right to exist?
Does the West Bank have a right to exist as an unoccupied land connected to Palestine?
The Israeli government is denying Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank the ability to create their own country by using apartheid, annexation, illegal settlements, infinite occupation, and revocation of rights. That’s right, the world watches as Israel removes an entire group of people from their land.
Israeli Jews support the actions of the regime that represents them.
Palestinians are people. People have a right to exist when they’re born. So, Palestinians need to be recognized as a people with the right to exist. They have land that Israel is forcefully removing them from. Once more.
Are Jewish people unaware of how this removal looks? Do they feel so empowered in this urge to stretch the boundaries of their country that they can ignore the treatment they are doling out to another people?
The attacks of October 7, 2023 were disgusting. Israel lost 1,200 of their own. As of today, 54,607 Palestinians have been killed by the IDF in response. Numbers are still increasing. Those figures, whatever that final tally is, will also be repulsive.
Israel has gone too far. For too long.
Are Jewish people blind?
I find this to be eerie. Anytime Netanyahu, anyone in his government, or any Jewish person with stern beliefs connected to the legitimacy of the Jewish state is challenged, they resort to short-circuiting any opinion they don’t wish to consider by mentioning the Holocaust. They talk about how Jewish people had to endure the rage of a racist loon. How they were hunted and hated for their beliefs, traditions, culture, and way of life. Jews were threatened by a machine of doom merely because they had the nerve to be…human. Inside a fallen Europe breaking under the hatred of one man.
The world came to war. Unfortunately, it was too late to save so many innocent citizens — of all nationalities and ethnicities. The German leader reserved most of his scorn for Jews. His goal was to exterminate them in Europe — and track them across the globe. The realities of the concentration camps marked that time in human history. Undoubtedly. Sadly.
To this day, Israel exists under a special designation of sorts. As a byproduct of their saga in surviving the Nazi regime. It’s not really mentioned. The larger world was sympathetic to their treatment during World War II. That’s not to say Jews don’t still have their disagreements or defend themselves from all forms of bigotry. This is a planet filled with humans after all.
Yet, whenever anyone shows a sprinkle of compassion towards Palestinians, they are shouted down as “anti-Semitic.”
No.
That’s not how existing on this planet works. When you’re responsible for egregious behavior you deserve to be called out for it. No matter who you are. I don’t understand how Jewish people — anywhere — can be supportive of what’s being done to Palestinians.
Removing Palestinians from Gaza is wrong. Erecting new neighborhoods in the West Bank has always been illegal. Taking Gaza and occupying it indefinitely is ghoulish.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued a warrant for the arrest of Netanyahu. The order states Netanyahu is responsible for committing the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare along with the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts. Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif has also been subject to a warrant. Israel says Deif was killed in July after an air strike in Gaza. Deif’s summons includes crimes against humanity of murder; extermination; torture; and rape and other form of sexual violence — and the war crimes of murder, cruel treatment, torture; taking hostages; outrages upon personal dignity; and rape and other form of sexual violence.
The Israeli government is creating a forever-enemy. This inhumane activity will radicalize children that haven’t been born yet. Jewish people aren’t safer due to Netanyahu’s capture of Gaza and the West Bank. It’s the opposite.
How can you do this, Israel? What gives you the right? Where does your religion allow you to justify this behavior? Why do so many citizens in Israel agree with it?
Of course the U.S. would arm a country livestreaming colonization. History repeats itself because world powers and their surrogates wish to delete all traces of it.
The world has eyes. Yours do not deceive you.
