Effusive Praise for Somalis
From the White House
“I don’t want them [Somalis] in our country, I’ll be honest with you.”
“I don’t want them in our country. Their country’s no good for a reason. Their country stinks - and we don’t want them in our country. I could say that about other countries too.”
“We’re going to go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country.”

Turning attention to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), the masterful orator continued:
“Ilhan Omar is garbage. She’s garbage. Her friends are garbage. These aren’t people that work. These aren’t people that say, ‘Let’s go, c’mon. Let’s make this place great.’ These are people that do nothing but complain. They complain - and from where they came from they got nothing!”
“You know, if they came from paradise and they said, ‘This isn’t paradise.’ But when they come from hell and they complain and do nothing but bitch, we don’t want them in our country. Let them go back to where they came from and fix it.”
As this section of a masterful monologue came to its conclusion, applause popped from every section of the room. Lending their unquestioned support with adoring smiles and gleeful head nods.
The speaker was the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, reciting poetry from the White House.
The condemnation of Somalis has come to the front of the news cycle recently after several dozen Somalis from Minnesota were implicated in statewide fraud. Over one billion dollars was wrongfully claimed and therefore dispersed. The schemes involved charging the state for services that were never rendered; fraudulent activity took advantage of multiple federal programs that were created to help citizens during the COVID pandemic.
Food services programs, the Child and Adult Care Food Program and the Summer Food Service Program had their funding swiped by those involved with the corrupt scams. The biggest offender was Aimee Bock; the founder of Feeding Our Future. A nonprofit created to supply free meals to those in need across Minnesota, especially children.
On March 19, 2025, Bock and former restaurateur, Salim Said, were convicted by a federal jury on charges of wire fraud and bribery. The trial followed a comprehensive investigation into an alleged scheme to siphon $250 million from taxpayers. To date, 87 people have been charged with 61 receiving convictions. Most are of Somali ancestry.
This was the main subject that the president spoke so eloquently about in a Cabinet meeting on December, 2, 2025. There are over 84,000 Somalis residing in the Twin Cities. Most — 87% — are American citizens. An estimated 260,000 people of Somali descent were living in the U.S. in 2024, according to the Census Bureau’s annual American Community Survey. President Trump focused on them intensely - and used the slew of financial crimes to paint everyone in the Somali diaspora across U.S. as “garbage.”
He didn’t give any attention to the racial ancestry of Bock. He had more than enough colorful words in that room. Why exclude her? There’s enough blame to be divided. Why didn’t the president spotlight the ringleader of the biggest perpetrator in the case?
Everyone who’s guilty of stealing funds should be held to the highest standard of the law and be punished accordingly. No matter who they are and where they hail from. Just as a felon should have to sit in a cell and work to reintegrate into society after they’ve been convicted 34 times. Anyone ordering missiles to kill drug traffickers (without any proof of such an accusation) in any body of water should have to sit across from a judge. Being recorded engaged in voter fraud with another elected official should be connected to a penalty in a land where law is just.
Whether they are citizens of the U.S., Somalia, or any other manmade border, trash is not how humans are usually defined. Through their actions there have been many a human being with evidence leaving no doubt they were far more hideous than rubbish tossed into a metal bin or a plastic sack. The man with the most power in the world is ready to sic his personal troopers upon the Somali neighborhoods of Minnesota. He’s pointing to the fraud cases as all the justification necessary to use ICE to do…what they do to anyone they have in their sights.
To demonize and steal the humanity of Somalis allows the president — and the millions of voters who selected him — to harm every single Somali in Minnesota without a dollop of consideration for their own humanity. Trash isn’t usually viewed as typical proof of a human walking among us each day. Is it?
Who will argue against the brutal force and treatment that may befall Somalis at the hands of ICE or the courts in the U.S. if they are no longer seen, heard, and respected as humans? It’s a simple endeavor to trample over basic decency if those you oppose are stripped of their identity as humans.
What do you do to your trash when the bin overflows?
How do you treat it once it needs to be removed?
Someone that is supposed to stand as a representative of leadership and poise instead decides to shine his special type of attention on Somalis. Somalis who happen to also be Americans. Concerning their nationality or not, you don’t berate and disrespect Somalia and anyone tied to the country due to their ancestry. So now, everyone from Somalia — or anyone with direct ties to it — is “garbage” because crimes were committed by those in Minnesota?
If the few are responsible for the actions of the whole can that also be adopted to include the large pharmaceutical companies and firearms manufacturers for the products they unleash on the open market?
Trump has deep problems with people from certain countries. An issue he shares with his most devoted voters.
Trump has always had complaints about who’s allowed to access the U.S. Political refugees. Asylum seekers. Those that had legally cleared a pathway to U.S. citizenship now find themselves staring at a map that has no endpoint after the president cancelled naturalization ceremonies that were scheduled.
The Trump administration has immediately paused active green card and U.S. citizenship applications from being processed for people from nearly two dozen countries after the National Guard shooting near the White House on November 26, 2025.
The countries that Trump has either under a full (and partial) travel ban and their visas restricted are: Afghanistan, Burma, Burundi, Chad, Cuba, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Laos, Myanmar, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, and Yemen.
By the time this piece is published, the list could include 36 additional countries.
I wasn’t going to list…well, here’s the homework in advance: Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Dominica, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Why would Trump block U.S. citizenship applications and travel from every nation above?
He was swift in expediting U.S. citizenship avenues for a select South African group: Afrikaners. He fast-tracked their refugee status. Processing them in only three months when it usually takes refugee applicants years to complete the same steps.
Trump has been steadily closing the doors on legal immigration into the land of the free.
Trump yearns for immigrants from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden to call the U.S. home. On Tuesday evening, while speaking in Pennsylvania Trump said, “Why can’t we have some people from Norway, Sweden, just a few. Let us have a few. From Denmark … send us some nice people. Do you mind? But we always take people from Somalia, places that are a disaster, right? Filthy, dirty, disgusting, ridden with crime. The only thing they’re good at is going after ships.”
Somalia? Again?
Are any of the places that he’s planning to include in his immigration ban part of the “shithole countries” that he wants to shield the U.S. from?
The U.S. president speaks this way - and it’s a regular day that ends in “d-a-y” like all others.
For those too woke to understand, no one wants to hear your opinions on his tirade about Somalis and others from “shithole” nations being racist, bigoted, or repulsive. A president never behaves that way. It’s unbecoming of the office.
When Americans were presented with the choice of a reasonable alternative, 49.9% of voters selected this administration.
